Whitefish: Land Use open house

The City of Whitefish hosted an open house on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 with consultants czb, LLC for the consultants to present their findings and recommendations related to the Land Use Element of the city’s draft Land Use Plan. In this blog post, we’ll share the boards that were presented during the open house. There will be an online component for participation for those who weren’t able to attend in person, but this is not yet published. Make sure to sign up for email alerts on Engage Whitefish to be notified when the online component is available.

Finally, the consulting team’s recommendations

This exercise instructed the members of the public in attendance to place stickers to note their level of agreement with each recommendation. The online portion of the open house will likely focus on gathering this input from a larger group of participants.

Overall, Whitefish could go a lot further to implement best practices to improve housing availability and affordability and transportation options. Generally speaking, these recommendations to not meet established best practices to achieve these goals.
